Why Eureka…What’s in a Name
Archimedes, the Greek scientist, was in his bath when, in a moment of inspired clarity, he saw the answer to a problem of density. As inspiration struck, Archimedes was so excited with his idea that he rushed stark naked out onto the street, shouting “Eureka!”, a Greek word meaning “I’ve got it!”
Eureka! symbolises the excitement of discovery and the spirit of innovation. In South Africa, the “first found” diamond was called “The Eureka Diamond” which turned the tides of fortune in SA, later known as the “Star of SA.”
